128th St.E. - SR162 ROUNDABOUT

PROJECT UPDATE 2/17/26
Utility work has been completed and the roundabout approach work is starting now through the end of the year.  Most of this work will be performed at night between 8pm and 4am.  Approaches include additional lanes on SR162 approaching and exiting the roundabout.  The construction of the roundabout itself will begin in January of 2027 and project completion is estimated to be in late June of 2027.

PROJECT UPDATE 2/7/26

As you may have noticed utility work has resumed on the corridor 128th St E intersection.  It is also noted that the general contractor building the roundabout has started work.  We will make an effort to work with the contractor to give you updates here or through our facebook group.  We have been told work will be done at night but prepare for many delays due to intersection manipulations during construction. Will it be worth the inconveniences, we hope so.

PROJECT UPDATE:  11/18/25

If you are wondering why only a few trees and poles have been removed from the roundabout right-of-way, here are the answers:

  • The dropped trees were removed by the untility contractors to do their work

  • The balance of the trees will be removed by the roundabout construction contractor

MORE TO COME

The SR162 WSDOT SR162 improvement study recommends 4 more roundabouts at Pioneer Rd, 96th St E (Alderton), 136th St E (McMillin industrial Park), and 149th St E (High Cedars). These proposed but unfunded roundabouts are designed to improve traffic flow according to WSDOT.
